Welgevonden Private Game Reserve
Waterberg, Limpopo - www.welgevonden.org
Located on the Waterberg Plateau in Limpopo Province, Welgevonden Private
Game Reserve borders Marakele National Park, an easy three hour drive
north of Johannesburg. The 36 000 hectare reserve supports a diverse flora
of rolling wooded mountains scored by deep rocky ravines and striking
gorges giving way to grassy plains. The vegetation, together with the
area’s high altitude, temperate climate and malaria free environment,
create an ideal year-round safari destination.
Unsurpassed Big Five sightings of lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard
contrasted against a rich canvas of dramatic bushveld, afford visitors
an unforgettable taste of the African wilderness. Guests enjoy exclusive
use of the reserve and unlimited traversing of the bushveld with a limited
number of vehicles permitted at animal sightings.
Guest accommodation on the reserve is a choice of fifteen acclaimed safari
lodges, each offering visitor’s luxurious, exclusive accommodation with
an authentic African, yet sophisticated ambience. According to preference
and budget there are lodges to suit honeymooners and couples travelling
without children, child-friendly accommodation and exclusive-use lodges,
perfect for family holidays or friends travelling together. All of the
lodges offer well appointed accommodation; full board gourmet cuisine,
twice daily game drives in open vehicles and guided walks with experienced,
registered game rangers. There are also two self-catering lodges which
enjoy the option of guided game drives.
